The Dennis McGee
Fiddle Breakdown Series
Dennis was my hero and this collection includes over 20 of his greatest tunes, broken down for beginner and intermediate level fiddlers.
Dennis was the torchbearer of an older, pre-dancehall style of Cajun music; one that leads the listener to envision house parties, where all the furniture was carried out into the lawn and couples would dance jigs and reels and (scandalous, at the time) waltzes through the house until the dawn broke through the sticky Louisiana nights.
Marc Savoy said it best: “Languages have dictionaries. Cajun music had Dennis McGee.”
Tunes include: Adieu Rosa • Allons à Tasso • Cajun Reel • Chère Bébé Créole • Courville's Favorite • Cowboy Waltz • Danse Carré • DeVillier • Two-Step • Frugé's Reel • Happy One-Step • Jump Jim Crow • La Valse du Coteau Magnolia • Les Reels de Torchon • One-Step de McGee • Pa Janvier • Reel de Berzas • Reel de Coquin • Reel de DesHotels • Reel de Marcante • The Courville and McGee Waltz • The Waltz That Finished in the Corner of the House • Two-Step De La Ville Platte • Pascal's Zegrets • Pop's Waltz • Reel Perdue • The Wang Wang Blues

Though Cajuns and Creoles are rich in culture, they are historically marginalized and impoverished communities.
Since 2008, Mitch Reed Fiddle Lessons has offered scholarships to students in need, and with the help of patrons from all over the world, has been able to offer free instruction to students who otherwise would not be able to afford lessons or instruments.
If Cajun or Creole music has been like a gift to you, consider paying it forward and helping to keep a culture alive and thriving.
