Mardi Gras Medley on Bouzouki

Happy Mardi Gras y’all! I just thought I’d play a few traditional Mardi Gras tunes on the bouzouki since it really is an old medieval holiday that came from France to the new world and found its way all the way to Mamou, Louisiana, which is, I always think is the King capital of Mardi Gras because the riders are still on horseback and it’s the real deal. If you ever want to go experience the real Mardi Gras, not the parades and all that stuff, go to Mamou. Of course, make sure you have a good insurance policy. You also want to make sure that you have good health care and stuff like that too because it’s very dangerous.

But yeah, I hope everybody’s doing great today. It’s Mardi Gras day. I’m up here in Maine, so not much going on up here. You know, if I dressed up and chased a few chickens, they’d probably call the police. But down there in Louisiana, it’s anything goes. So just wanting to play a few Mardi Gras tunes and wish everybody a happy Mardi Gras and stay safe out there and all you fiddlers stay inspired and keep on fiddling.

And if you want to check out any of my videos, I’m building a group of videos based on Bébé Carrière. Go check them out. Go to my website, mitchreedmusiclessons.com, and check that stuff out. There’s all kinds of stuff, all kinds of downloads you can get. So happy Mardi Gras and hope to see you all soon.
